SDR Portal: Data Analytics

The SDR Portal (http://cse-dnc215869s.cse.ohio-state.edu/) helps researchers understand the structure, availability and capacity of SDR2, and navigates them through relationships between source data and harmonized data, as well as between target variables, harmonization controls and source quality indicators before downloading the data in an intuitive, user-friendly, yet effective manner. 

First, the Portal’s static documentation description and dynamic interactive part facilitate the understanding of SDR2. Second, the SDR Portal helps researchers assess data availability. Once a desirable set of variables is identified, SDRQuerier visualizes the information on data availability by target variable and joint availability by source survey project. The data records are displayed by year with each point representing sample size by countries or respondents. Finally, from the Portal, users can choose to extract SDR2 in full, or only the fraction of the dataset they are interested in. Data can be downloaded in SPSS or STATA format.
